Check out this kick ass CGI animated trailer for Iron Man Gamma Protocol! For more info, see the details below!

The original inspiration for this short animation literally happened about one week after i finished Iron Man Mk Z! I set about blocking out a model for Hulkbuster mostly for fun at this point! I always wanted to put a Hulk vs Hulkbuster sequence together for a long long time but i had an issue – I really didn"t want it to just be an empty fight sequence it has to tell a little story. I actually drew upon a series of short stories in the Marvel comics universe subtitled "what if" and i thought it would be fun to tackle my own short "what if" sequence.

Enter Mark Cushley who saw me blocking out my Hulkbuster model and had lots of input for how he should look. He had already saved me massively putting a RDJ based Tony Stark facial rig together for me for my Iron Man mk Z fanimation i had done the year before and he was quite excited about tackling the hulk especially after seeing Avengers Assemble. His character modelling abilities are truly phenomenal and its one of the strong arms of his own company now so i"m excited to watch that grow & flourish for him 🙂

For the characters both Hulk & Tony Stark (RDJ) were modelled & textured by Mark Cushley. No digital scan data was used – its purely google images for reference of Mark Ruffalo for inspiration and ILM"s images of Hulk from Avengers Assemble promotional material and hand-painted textures. Mark also created Tony Stark for my other short animation "Iron Man Mk Z" but he was never truly happy with that version of Tony Stark though (even though for me personally seeing him in the HUD is the highlight of that piece!). So Mark set about remodelling him to a higher resolution and more accurately so he could hold up to the 2580×1080 pixel resolution we"ve gone for.

Another interesting angle for our short is in the title itself.. "Gamma Protocol" – this was dreamed up by an amazing concept artist named Paul Dolan #PaulDolanArt – the overriding question to us all being “what kind of system does Tony Stark have setup to tackle a truly annoyed Hulk?”. Paul set about this project with intense dedication – putting together initial paintovers and concept art to help enhance the look and show how various parts of the characters and environment can be enhanced! He was adamant that Hulkbuster should be fast and our Hulkbuster is a sort of Veronica mk2 if you will.. faster nippier and filled with just as many high tech gadgets. He also designed the logo too and is working on some assets for the final sequence which i dont want to share too much on just yet but there"s a hint in the logo! He has been truly invaluable on this piece.

There is still a good chunk of work to do for this short animation. I was hoping to get it finished last year but had a very difficult 2015 which involved flying from UK to Spain for a few months, then return, then out to Canada to work on X-men Apocalypse, but sadly had to leave before i could finish my contract so back to UK again! All the while with my wife and child in tow and our lives (and my pc!) in suitcases – every spare hour i could muster i have been working on this project and still am – its very close! My wife (who is equally Marvel obsessed as me ha!) has been truly incredible supporting me every step of the way with this sequence for 2 years now so i have to say without her by my side i wouldn"t be nearly as close to finishing as i am. I have no words i can write her that can thank her enough.

Here is a great trailer created by SunnyBoy Entertainment/Oddball Animation as they bring their creativity and extensive knowledge in animation, sound, and sci-fi to one of the leading digital technology companies in motion picture exhibition and distribution: DATASAT DIGITAL.

Datasat acquired DTS sound and they turned to SunnyBoy to rebrand DTS into DataSat.
SunnyBoy collaborated with the Oddball and the DataSat marketing team to create a unique, memorable trailer that would mark the arrival of DataSat on the global theatre market.

A fully realized 3-D trailer about a UFO marking the DataSat logo in a cornfield near a sleepy plot of farm land was built. "We referenced as many sci-fi extraterrestrial movies as we could find and came up with our own look for the UFO. Then we integrated the Datasat logo into the design of the ship itself.

The symbol can then become an icon that people will remember. Datasat gave us complete creative freedom, so we just ran with it and had fun making it", said creative director Michael White.

To create this innovate sound trailer SunnyBoy utilized Maya and Modo to render the 3-D environments and animation. After Effects and Final Cut Pro were used to add dynamics, color correction and final timings. The final touches were added with the incredible sound mix by veteran sound designer Charles Mayne.

SunnyBoy Entertainment was proud to participate in the worldwide debut release of Datasat Digital Sound trailer at the Cinema Con 2011 in Las Vegas, NV.

This must see for all VFX artists is Kei"s Space BattleYamato breakdown.

"Space Battleship YAMATO" is one of the most famous and popular animation-series in Japan made in the 70"s. In 2010, "Space Battleship YAMATO" was recreated as a live action feature film. It was the first challenge to work on, expressing realistic space battles in Japan.


When the director Takashi Yamazaki of Shirogumi Inc — the main VFX Production Company of this project – started "Space Battleship YAMATO", he began looking for partners who were able to work on and create heavy and complex effects. He accidently stumbled upon my work and that was how I initially got in contact with him. During that time, I was working with my previous employer — a company called OXYBOT – but I"ve always had such respect for him, ever since I was a student, and was so excited when he approached me with an offer where I was put in charge of some difficult and complex VFX shots for the project.

"Space Battleship YAMATO" is a very memorable project for me, as I was able to work with director Takashi Yamazaki for the first time ever!

850 METERS is an "after hours" project, an animated comedy short produced by THURISTAR and Lunanime, coming to festivals in 2013.
As we moved forward in production, THURISTAR has also been producing a "making-of" series of the film, to follow the work of our very small team "behind the scenes", each short episode featuring a new production step.

Synopsis
A not-so-brave knight is on a quest for Fame and Fortune – legend says rescuing a princess is the way to go. And in those same fairy tales, there"s only one way to slay the dragon that hold the fair lady captive : find the invincible sword. To reach his goal, the knight is ready to go far.
